WHAT STYLE DO WE TEACH AT SHIVAKALI YOGA?

We teach an Alignment-Based Vinyasa Flow class, integrated with traditional Yogic practice.  Culminating in restorative postures, often combined with meditation, pranayama and chanting, our practice serves first to awaken the body and break-up stuck energy, and then to soften the mind and nurture our inner being.  Uniting the solar + lunar aspects of practice we find freedom in movement, draw awareness from the mind to the heart, and allow insight to arise naturally. Learn how to lead this practice and others, at our 300 Hour Yoga Teacher training, Bali.

THIS COURSE IS FULLY ACCREDITED BY THE YOGA ALLIANCE.

COURSE OF RETREAT

The Shivakali Yoga "Elemental Tantra Yoga Teacher Training" approaches the ancient sciences of Yoga and Tantra through a course of the 5 elements.

In the earth element we will practice Din Acharya, daily ayurvedic self-care as we rise with the sun.  We will learn about grounding asana practice, restorative, slow-flow, yin and classical tantric asanas.  We will also study accessibility + inclusivity in a modern Vinyasa flow class. Guided massage practices may be offered (optional), and connection to the earth as found in classical yogic texts.

During the water element, we still the waters of the mind with Buddhist Tantra, Tibetan yogas and meditation instruction from the Nyingma tradition.  Enjoy daily practice of vinyasa flow, with an emphasis on the lunar quality and classical surya namaskar, deepening our knowledge of these asanas.  We will begin to expand our practices of transitions, cueing, and props, learning how to float through our daily asana classes and posture clinics with grace.

300 Hour Bali Yoga Teacher Training by Shivakali Yoga, a Los Angeles-based Yoga Certification School that leads 200 & 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Intensives and Yoga Retreats at sacred destinations in Bali, Hawaii, California and more.

As we proceed into fire, we will begin the day at sunrise with Agni Hotra, classical yogic fire ceremony.  We will learn to perform yogic fire rituals, study bandhas and kumbhaka practices, and cultivate inner heat.  We will encounter the philosophy of Bhakti, immerse ourselves in chanting kirtan, and dissolve in the fire of devotion. Our yoga will focus on strength and cultivating shakti, learning the art of power vinyasa, examining creative sequencing and core work. We teach this in a way that is aligned with classical yoga, while strengthening our practice of arm balances and inversions as well.

Journeying into the air element, we will rise with the practices of Sri Vidya, ascending into Shakta Tantra.  Students receive instruction in rituals, learn to draw the Sri Yantra, uncover the mystery of this ancient diagram, and study the history of the tantra tradition.  We will develop the art of intuitive teaching, learning how to teach yoga from a place of deep inspiration, and learn how to lead a truly spiritual yoga practice while maintaining impeccable alignment, cueing, and creativity. We will also explore incorporating other forms of sacred movement into our classes.

Woven throughout the course each week is the element of space, in which we will have free time to relax, enjoy the poetry of Kabir, meditate on emptiness, and read from the Tao Te Ching.    We will find what it means to discover our own practice, our own path, and our own truth within... as teachers, and as human beings.

NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICES OF "SACRED SEX" OFFERED IN THIS PROGRAM.

Frequently Asked Questions:

YOGA ALLIANCE + CERTIFICATION

Q: This training is accredited by the Yoga Alliance. Does this training qualify me to register with the Yoga Alliance as an RYT?

A: A 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training allows someone who has already completed a 200 Hour Training to register as an RYT 500. A 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings does not qualify you to register with the Yoga Alliance as an RYT unless you have previously completed a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training.

Q: I haven't completed a 200 Hour Teacher Training. Can I still take this 300 Hour Teacher Training?

A: Yes, you can take a 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training without having completed a 200 Hour Training! However, we generally encourage people to attend a 200hr training first. As a Pre-Requisite, we ask that students coming to this training without having completed a 200 Hour YTT have a background in the practice of Vinyasa Yoga for at least 3 years, and be familiar with Surya Namaskar A, as well as the poses Warrior 1, Warrior 2, and Warrior 3. If you have questions, email us or explore the Yoga Alliance website :)

Q: Do I need to register as an RYT with the Yoga Alliance in order to teach Yoga?

A: There are many people all over the world who teach without being registered with the Yoga Alliance. Most studios in the world do ask that you have undergone Yoga Teacher Training & received a Certification before teaching, but do not require you to be registered as an RYT with the Yoga Alliance. However, some studios or locations may require RYT designation. We encourage you to explore the needs of the spaces where you would be interested in teaching, and speak to other teachers in your local community about this.

For more information on these specifics and requirements, please visit: yogaalliance.org

FLIGHTS, TRANSPORT + VISAS

Q: What Airport do I fly into?

A: Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar), Bali, Indonesia.

Q: Do you provide transportation from the Airport to the Retreat Center?

A: Yes, we can provide transportation for you from Ngurah Rai Airport for $25 USD per person. Please note, you may be grouped into a ride-share with other students arriving up to 1 hour and 15 minutes before or after you. Your driver will be a kind Balinese gentleman waiting as soon as you exit the airport, holding a sign with your name on it! The drive from the airport to the retreat in Ubud is generally around 2.5 hours, although it can be significantly less without traffic.

Q: Do I need a Visa to travel to Bali?

A: Bali grants you a free 30-day Tourist Visa automatically upon entry! You do not need to apply for a Visa before flying. However, if you would like to stay in Bali longer than 30-days, you have 2 options. First, as long as you are staying less than 60 days, you can pay an extra charge per day of approximately $22.50 per each day that you stay in the country over 30 days. This fee will be charged by immigration at the airport when you return for your flight out, and you should plan to arrive to the aiport at least 30 minutes earlier than normal. This fee must be paid in cash, with Indonesian Rupiah currency.

Second, you can apply for a Visa Extension, allowing you 60 days in Bali. We recommend using a Visa Extension Agency if planning to attend the training, as doing this on your own will take 3 visits to Denpasar to complete, which will not be possible to accomplish and still complete your hours in training. If using a Visa Extension agency, you will pay a fee for the agency and a fee for the Visa, but only have to return to Denpasar 1 time. We can recommend agencies for you should you decide to apply for Visa Extension.
